Heating Tips
- Make sure all baseboard heaters or radiators are clear of furniture so that heat can circulate freely.
- Turn the heat down when you go to bed at night.
- Turn the heat down when you leave for the day or go on a trip.
- Remember to clean your baseboard heater or radiator regularly. Dirt can interfere with heating efficiency.
- Keep doors and windows closed when the heat is turned on to keep the heat inside.
- If you feel cold, put on a wool sweater or sit under a blanket instead of turning up the heat.
- On a sunny winter day, open your blinds and curtains to let sunlight in to help warm up the room.
- Don’t rapidly increase the thermostat. Heat will not come on faster if it is turned up higher
- Choose wide-brimmed lampshades that distribute light evenly out from the fixture.
- After a shower, be mindful when opening the bathroom window to ‘unfog’ the mirror -- Close the bathroom door to limit the amount of heat loss. Remember to close the window again when the steam has evaporated.
